{Rolling, rolling,longchamp sale, rolling on the river}
Instead of zipping around Europe on a coach or train,longchamp le pliage, why not try the river route? FANCY visiting a new town in Europe every day and yet not have to check in and out of hotels? With river-cruising, you can. It’s an ideal way to get to know the European countryside without the hassle of changing hotels or frequently packing and unpacking your luggage. The continent may not have large expansive rivers like the Yangtze or the Nile, but it seems to make up for it with its labyrinth of waterways which are utilised for both commerce and leisure. It is the Low Countries of Western Europe with its scores of inter-linked waterways that are known for river-cruising. Avalon Waterways,longchamp sale, Europe’s second largest river cruise operator, chose Belgium and Holland to be the showcase voyage when it launched its latest ship,longchamp le pliage, Artistry II, in April. It’s a departure from what most Malaysians are more familiar with, namely, ocean-cruising; regional cruises and around-the-world cruises are popular among the well-heeled who have much time on their hands. Day 1 – Antwerp, Belgium After checking in and having a buffet lunch onboard, guests had the option to go on a city tour of Antwerp or Brussels which is an hour away by coach. Most opted for Antwerp. As a shopping destination, Brussels is often underrated but you can find fine chocolates, cakes, lace, crystal, fashion and, of course, good Belgian beer. The main tourist site is the Grand Place or Grote Markt which is the city’s Main Square. Once razed by French troops sent by Louis XIV in 1695, it was later rebuilt; it remains the focal point of activities. The main chocolate and antique shops can be found at Place du Grand Sablon while flea-market buffs will find it hard to resist the daily offers at Place du Jeu du Balle. Antwerp is often called the Diamond City. There one can find a beautiful Old Town, the Cathedral of Our Lady, and the Grote Markt where the City Hall stands surrounded by historic guild-houses. As my ship was docked right in the city, we walked to the Old Town. The Brabo Fountain was commissioned in 1887 to commemorate the legendary origins of the city’s name (which literally means “hand-throw” or handwerpen) – a Roman soldier apparently slayed a giant, and threw the giant’s hand into the river. My day ended with an embarkation dinner onboard and live entertainment. Bruges in Belgiumis also called the ‘Miracle ofFlanders’ as its historicaltreasures , and medieval andRenaissance ar chitecture, arewell-preserved. |
