{Bridie Kelly}
Feenone, LouisburghThe death has taken place peacefully at her home of Bridie Kelly, (nee O Donnell) Feenone, Louisburgh, on July 22, 2013, surrounded by her family, following a short illness which she bore with great bravery and courage.A native of Bushfield, Charlestown, Co. Mayo she was daughter of the late James and Bridget O Donnell and had reached the memorable age of 90 yearsIn the late 1940s Bridie moved to England in search of work and it was there she met and married her beloved husband Gerard Kelly in April 1950. Two years later they returned to Gerard’s home place in Feenone where they settled down and raised their family of three sons and two daughters. After 52 years of marriage she was predeceased by her husband Gerard in 2002.Later when her grandchildren arrived she played an important role in their upbringing and always had their best interests at heart. They will always remember her good advice, her kind and gentle ways and good humour.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. For Bridie her home was where everything that was important to her came together, and she loved nothing more than sitting down at home with a cup of tea, for a chat and catch-up with her family. She also enjoyed many simple pastimes over the years such as knitting, sewing, reading, country music, and was a particular fan of the various TV soaps.Bridie was a woman of deep faith and loved to receive the Eucharist even in the later years when her failing health prevented her from attending Mass. Her prayer book and rosary beads were never far from her side. Bridie will be sadly missed by her sons Geoffrey (Dublin), Raymond (Dublin) and Peter (New York), daughters Valerie (Feenone) and Vivien Gibbons (Cloonlaura), daughters-in-law Ann and Mary, son-in-law Christy Gibbons, sister Annie Reilly, grandchildren Geoffrey, Marie, Martina, Paul, Liane, Seamus, Sharon, Christopher, Denise, Valerie and John, great -grandchildren Jason, Anna, Sarah,longchamp le pliage, Mia, Seán, Cealom, Ella and Chloe, nieces, nephews and all her other relatives and friends.Many people called to pay their last respects to Bridie and offer sympathy to her family at a traditional wake as she reposed at her home, and later in Sweeney’s funeral home, Louisburgh. Removal took place to the Church of the Holy Family, Killeen where Fr. Mattie Long, PP, officiated at the reception ceremony. Fr. Mattie Long was the chief celebrant at Bridie’s funeral Mass, where he was assisted by Fr. Seán O’Leary,longchamp sale, Fr. Paddy Gill and Canon Brendan Kilcoyne.Family members took part in the funeral liturgy, reading the lessons and prayers of the faithful and bringing the offertory gifts to the altar. The local choir sang some of Bridie’s favourite hymns most notably Our Lady of Knock. In the mass homily many tributes were paid to Bridie for her devotion to her family and her deep faith. After Mass Bridie was laid to rest beside her husband in Killeen Cemetery. May her caring and gentle soul rest in peace. _________________ People watching the forthcoming beginning of the German half of the inhabitants of Berlin are no interested in co-optation |
