A TLA opinion poll conducted in the fall of 2012 found that:•50% of respondents don’t believe there are jobs in forestry; and•50% wouldn’t recommend that people get into the industry.But while forestry had a rough ride in the 2000s, Ferris said the industry’s long-term outlook is stable growth.The Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) recently launched a Greenest Workforce website and is using videos, social media and an online internship contest to educate young people about opportunities in forestry across Canada.The organization has calculated that B.C. will need 15,000 new workers to fill forestry jobs across the province.Not only was forestry hit particularly hard by the recession, but the industry has also been going through a technological restructuring, said FPAC president David Lindsay.
