{B.C,moncler on sale. creates new social enterprise business model}
B.C. Finance Minister Mike de JongBy Nelson BennettTue Jul 30, 2013 4:00am PSTThe B.C. government is creating a new hybrid business model: one that is for-profit but with a mandate to provide social benefits.Finance Minister Mike de Jong has announced a new business class called Community Contribution Company (CCC,moncler down jackets, or C3) that is intended to bridge the gap between non-profit organizations and for-profit businesses.The first of its kind in Canada, it is designed to address the growing demand for "socially focused investment options."Having a C3 designation means the company has a legal obligation to conduct business for social purposes,moncler outlet, not just for profit.The province hopes the designation will help socially geared enterprises attract capital that is largely unavailable to non-profit organizations by appealing to investors who are philanthropically motivated,moncler sale, but who still want to see a return on investment.Areas of social enterprise might include health care, arts and culture,discount moncler jackets,moncler down jackets, environment and education.The new class was developed in consultation with the B.C. Social Innovation Council,moncler outlet, the finance ministry stated."This new model will unlock new ways to generate meaningful, local employment in B.C. and generate economic wealth for our province by encouraging private investment in B.C.'s social enterprise sector,discount moncler jackets," said de Jong.Stacey Corriveau, executive director for the B.C. Centre for Social Enterprise,moncler on sale, said, "We expect the C3 model will be attractive to charities operating unrelated businesses [as well as] traditional corporations wishing to entrench goals beyond that of maximizing shareholder profits."The C3 designation can be selected when a business is first incorporating. Existing businesses can change their designations with a name change and amendment to their constitutions. This would require the unanimous consent of the company's shareholders.C3 businesses differ from other business classes in that:they are subject are subject to an asset lock, with a cap on dividends that can be paid to shareholders;the bulk of profits must go towards a social enterprise or charity; andthere are higher levels of accountability, including a requirement of three directors who are required to publish an annual report describing their activities.nbennett@biv.com@nbennett_bivTags: education, environment,moncler sale, health, culture, Mike de Jong, shareholder, annual report _________________ People watching the forthcoming beginning of the German half of the inhabitants of Berlin are no interested in co-optation |
