Their friendship continued until Tony graduated in 1965 and took up a teaching job in Ottawa. It was only when Tony returned to Windsor for homecoming that autumn that Helen realized that this was the man with whom she wanted to spend the rest of her life.There followed a hectic long-distance courtship involving much driving among Ottawa, Windsor and Rochester. Tony found that teaching was not his forte and joined the Canadian Foreign Service in July 1966. After graduating in the spring of that year, Helen took up a teaching job in Belle River, near Windsor. The couple quickly decided that this separation could not continue, so rushed to set up a wedding in Rochester during the short Christmas break while Helen moved from Windsor to take up a teaching job in Ottawa.Their daughter Elizabeth was born in January 1968, and later that year Tony was posted to the Canadian High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya. Before heading out for another posting in New Zealand in 1973, the young couple decided that it saw time to invest in a permanent home. Helen soon realized that her lifetime career should be in education, and she made the move to teaching in the IT field first at Algonquin and then later at CEGEP Heritage College in Gatineau. She remained there for 22 years as a key member of the small group of staff in the New Media program, where she taught a variety of subjects such as Photoshop, Website Design and Form Design.In the winter/spring of 2011, after Tony’s retirement from the public service,[url=http://www.moncler-sale.org]moncler on sale[/url], Helen took a term off from teaching to enjoy a 3½-month world cruise. She returned to Heritage College in September with the intention of teaching for several more years. After receiving excellent care at Montfort Hospital, she returned home where she could be looked after by visiting nurses and family while continuing to enjoy the home and garden to which she had devoted much loving attention over almost 40 years.
