Please refresh your browser 8:28pm: A great, disciplined and gutsy performance from the Warriors who really turned that game around after looking to have lost momentum as the Roosters ground them down up to half-time. Maybe the break came a little too soon for the Roosters.Hard to pick a man of the match from a great team performance by the Warriors but I might not have gone for Elijah Taylor, who got the chocloates tonight, although he had a solid game and scored that early try that was sign of things to come.Maybe Fiisiahi, although the made a few mistakes, but how different it might have been but for his freakish knockdown from SKD when the big Rooster looked for all money about to score. It was a game changer as it had been all Roosters up to then. His long-distance try on the hour was one to savour. Thanks for joining us for an entertaining match. Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 8:19pm: There goes the siren and the Warriors have now won four straight with a bye next week. A well-earned victory not many would have tipped. Warriors 23-12 Upvotes:4 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 8:17pm: Hurrell almost burrowed over in the corner as the Warriors took a leaf out of the Rooster playbook to keep the ball alive. They have their tails up now. Then Johnson calmly slots a field goal. Warriors 23-12 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:1 Copy Link 8:16pm: Another short kick-off and the Warriors are alive to it. Maybe a bit overplayed now. Leuluai puts kick in goal and Tuivasa-Shrek makes a mess of it and is wrapped up in goal. Not looking good for the Chooks. Warriors 22-12 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 8:14pm: Penalty Warriors as the short drop out goes out on the full. Johnson puts it through for an easy two points. Warriors 22-12 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 8:13pm: Laumape almost gets a second try for the Warriors, beating Tupou in the air to a bomb but Minni strips it as he's held over the line and the Roosters get out of jail. Warriors 20-12 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 8:10pm: No goal. Mateo starts it wide from near the sideline and it stays there. Warriors 16-12 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 8:09pm: That man SKD tries a grubber this time and it comes straight off Manu Vatuvei's feet and he scoops it up and powers the length of the field to score. A boilover on the cards here folks. Warriors 20-12 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 8:08pm: TRY WARRIORS! 20-12 Upvotes:3 Downvotes:2 Copy Link 8:08pm: SKD goes for a big run mostly crabbing across field but he's still carrying the ball like a six pack on a Friday arvo. Will he ever learn? Warriors 16-12 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 8:07pm: Then Kennedy barges over but loses it back in a melee and the Warriors somehow come up with it. Soem tired bodies out there but not Dane Nielsen. Great pressure on the 5th and Johnson can't' get a kick away. The Roosters build again and the crowd and behind them. Pearce does another weak kick and it's gobbled up by the Warriors. Warriors 16-12 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 8:04pm: Oh no! SKD was strolling to the line and Fiisiahi flicked the ball out of his hand as he was looking to place it down. Too casual! That was freakish good luck or something by the Warriors winger. George Gregan anyone? Warriors 16-12 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:1 Copy Link 8:02pm: Pearce bombs wide on the last and Tupou flies through and almost plucks it out of the air but it falls to Hurrell and he is dragged back in goal for a drop out to the Roosters. Warriors 16-12 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 8:01pm: The Warriors cough it up with two forward passes in one move as Friend tries to pass across the ruck from dummy-half. strange one that. Warriors 16-12 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:59pm: How did that happen? It was all Roosters there for a while but they couldn't make it count on the scoreboard - and suddenly the Warriors pop up with almost two tries. The Roosters only conceded six points in the second half on average and have just done that so can they hit back? Warriors 16-12 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:57pm: Goal. Mateo slams it over for the extras. Warriors 16-12 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:1 Copy Link 7:56pm: A Maloney kick on the 5th got smothered and fell to Lowrie who popped it to Fiisiahi and he sprints 80m to the line untouched. Warriorrs 14-12 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:1 Copy Link 7:55pm: TRY WARRIORS! 14-12 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:1 Copy Link 7:54pm: TRY? To the Warriors. Crazy stuff there. No try ruling suspected knock-on being checked upstairs. A Johnson crossfield kick it hit back from Neilsen to big Ben Matulino but it went just forward. NO TRY. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:52pm: Taylor is injured in a head clash - friendly fire from Maloney. Ouch. But he's OK and here come the Roosters again. SKD almost pulled off a speccy over a crowd of Warriors defenders from a Pearce chip-bomb. Some respite for the Warriors now as they finally get a set. What can they do with it? Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:50pm: Tupou almost went over in the corner from a Pearce grubber with a bit more weeties on it this time but Fiisiahi is able to collect but he is collared in goal and the Roosters get it back from the drop out. Pressure buildign no the Warriors here. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:48pm: Maloney chips wide to the line and Maloney is ploughed in goal by Tupou and Jennings so they get the ball back. Great offensive defence if that makes sense. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:1 Copy Link 7:47pm: A couple of settling sets and kicks there then Manu Vatuvei almost grabbed an intercept but could only get one big mitt to it and knocks on. That was close. Scrum Roosters. Back to an arw wrestle. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:44pm: Maloney just got hammered kicking but not ruled late. Here come the Warriors again with their tails up after being denied. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:43pm: That was so close. Very unlucky. Fiisiahi had it against his biody but just couldn't keep a hand on it as he grounded it at speed. A big let-off for the Roosters against the run of play admittedly. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:42pm: TRY? To the Warriors. Johnson puts a great angled grubber through and Fiisiahi pounces on it but there is doubt about the grounding. Going upstairs. Looks like he lost it ... NO TRY. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:41pm: The move breaks down when a pass goes astray and the Warriors mount an attack but Minichiello is safe under a Warriors bomb under heavy pressure. Tupou spills, the ball and the Warriors get a chance to have a crack at he Roosters line. Very even in these early skirmishes. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:39pm: Pearce tries a dribbler and then Fiisiahi joins in and a game of soccer breaks out in goal but to no avail. They get it back from a drop out and Sam Moa puts a Samoan sidestep on Lilyman. Ouch. Two words: speed bump. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:37pm: Here we go again. The Warriors kick off deep and the Roosters hit it up, with Nuusauala getting a big head of steam. The Roosters put a bomb deep and Minni goes so close storming through on Fiisiahi but somehow the Roosters get the feed metres out from the Warriors line. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:24pm: Phew. The Warriors jumped out of the blocks there and after an arm-wrestle midway through that half, the Roosters wrested back momentum and the lead with their determination to keep the ball alive come what may. You have to admire that approach, it is a joy to watch, and despite some early handling problems, it paid dividends on the scoreboard eventually. Attacking play should always be rewarded. What can the Warriors come up with to stem the flow? Catch you in 10 minutes time for the second half. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:20pm: Goal. Maloney puts the Rooster in front for the first time as the siren goes for half-time. Roosters 12-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:20pm: The Roosters got six more on the Warriors line after a pass was knocked down. The big Kiwi was at the heart of it all with offload and was there to finish off after they hammered the Warriors line tackle after tackle. 10-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:1 Copy Link 7:18pm: TRY ROOSTERS! SBW 10-10 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:1 Copy Link 7:17pm: Game on. It was coming. The Rooster look very dangerous around the edges of the ruck when they back themselves to throw it around. They seemed to have styemmed the tide of silly penalties too, and now they get one of their own for another tackle infrngement, this time by Todd Lowrie. Warriors 10-6 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:16pm: Goal. James Maloney strokes it home. Warriors 10-6 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:15pm: That man Minichiello of course! This one was almost as good as that last thwarted attack. Pearce popped a flick inside and some great offloads up the middle released the old man to canter over. Warriors 10-4 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:14pm: TRY ROOSTERS! Upvotes:1 Downvotes:1 Copy Link 7:13pm: This time poor old Minni gets sacked by Leuluai as he returns a deep kick. They're picking on the Roosters skipper. Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:12pm: Oh dear - almost the try of the year - but the last NBA pass floats forward. All set up by a break and offload by SBW - we take it all back - and some amazing ballwork. Almost deserved to be given. Heartbreak stuff. Warriors 10-0 but for how long? Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:11pm: SBW throws a stray pass as the Roosters looked in and Leuluai pounces on it. The Rooster look a little disjointed in attack there with SBW looking to put Pearce through a holw when it should been the other way around. Warriors 10-0. Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:08pm: Minichiello fields a low kick well this time and gets away but this time the Warriors are guilty of a tackle infringement and they can get back down in the opposing half. Warriors 10-0 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:06pm: Pearce is pulled up just short then his in goal grubber goes dead. A warriors kick was charged down and SBW went close to regathering but Fiiisiahi, ugg outlet, of all people, shouldered him off it - legally - but the Chooks fans don't agree. Warriors 10-0 and hotting up. Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:05pm: And poor handling, this time from SKD, but Fiisiahi gives it straight back and Michael Jet boots Jennings scoops up the ball and you'd say shut the gate but Shaun Johnson amazingly runs him down and drags hin down after giving him a start. Amazing derfence and pace from the Warriors half. Warriors 10-0 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:02pm: Mateo tries a grubber this time but it's more a dribbler and the Rooster pounce on it and get out of the quarter. It's actually quite even, scorebaord aside, but for the Roosters giving away too many penalties. Warriors 10-0 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 7:01pm: Nuuausala has had a couple of bullocking runs up the middle but his good work is undone by another penalty to the Warriors for a strip in a gang tackle. Ill discipline could hurt the Roosters here as they're already well behind on the count 5-2. Warriors 10-0 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 6:58pm: Minni gets monstered again backpedalling to field a deep kick but manages to stay on the grass this time. Pearce puts a great kick to find touch 3m out. Warriors 10-0How are your tips looking? Some did tip an upset here. Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 6:56pm: No goal. Mateo drags it wide from out wide. Warriors 10-0 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:1 Copy Link 6:55pm: It's given! They took a while but it was just a pop and pass by Mannering, rugby union style. No decoy or obstruction there at all as he was the ball carrier. Yes he can do that. Kick to come. Warriors 10-0 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 6:54pm: TRY WARRIORS! They're going to check for obstruction but looked OK. This time Johnson spun it wide and Hurrell is on the end of quick hands to go over in the corner. Warriors 10-0 Upvotes:1 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 6:52pm: The Warriors went very close when Johnson's little grubber took a defelection off Roy Aubusson's boot and the Roosters made a complete hash of clearing it. Only needed a Warrior backing up and they'd be further behind. A big let-off but Johnson might try that oen again. Warriors 6-0 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 6:51pm: Penalty Warriors. Fisiiahi is taken in the air not dangerously but rules is rules. Tupou again the offender. That came after a flowing 80m attack from the Roosters with great hands and support. It was only undone by a cross-chip at the end. Now they've been pinged again - this time for offside. At least they're mixing it up. Warriors 6-0 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 6:49pm: Cowabunga! Minichiello takes a bomb safe inside his quarter but Conrad Hurrell almost bulldozes him into Row A and the Warriors get the drop-out and another crack at the Roosters. They turn it over ansd the Rooster must try to break out of their own quarter. Getting a bit scrappy. Warriors 6-0 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 6:46pm: Penalty Roosters. The hosts finally get one. Same again, slowing it down. They kick deep and line up on the quarter. SBW manages an offload in his first run, and the Rooster get another penalty but decide to take the tap. SBW threatens again with an offload but a Fried bullet pass hits Kennedy on the chest on the burst and he can;t take it. :et-off for the Warriors. Warriors 6-0 Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 6:44pm: Penalty Warriors. Tupou slowing it down this time. Here come the Warriors again. Will the Roosters stay awake this time. Upvotes:0 Downvotes:0 Copy Link 5:44pm: Good evening and welcome to our live coverage of the Roosters v Warriors from Allianz Stadium. As we count down to kick-off here is "Sonny" Phil Mitchell's match preview: If there is no such thing as an easy game in the NRL then four weeks ago this shaped as pretty close to it for the Roosters. The Warriors had just suffered their worst-ever defeat (62-6 against Penrith), they hadn’t won a game in Australia since last July, and halfback Shaun Johnson was rumoured to have fallen out with coach Matthew Elliott. But they have bounced back with a vengeance, winning three consecutive matches for the first time since 2011, and will be quietly confident of reversing a round two defeat against the Roosters. The tricolours have named the same side that overcame Parramatta 38-24 last Friday night but prop Sam Moa may be a late inclusion if he proves his fitness after being sidelined since round eight with a knee injury.Sonny's tip: Roosters by eight.Head to head: Warriors 17, Roosters 13, drawn 1Last time: Roosters 14 Warriors 14, Round 2 Upvotes:2 Downvotes:0 Copy Link _________________ People watching the forthcoming beginning of the German half of the inhabitants of Berlin are no interested in co-optation |
