Olympus upgrades its already ruggedcompact camera series to make it even hardier. If there was a reason to buy a compact camera these days, it would be for one of these tough cameras that is sealed and protected from water and dust. This is what Olympus’ Stylus Tough TG-2 promises: A camera that you can essentially take anywhere without having to worry about rain, sun or sand killing it. So, from ISO 100 to 400 you get pretty good results overall while ISO 800 should be the last setting you’d use if you wanted to preserve some detail. The Super Macro mode in this camera is something that’s quite interesting. Once engaged, you can get really close to the subject, and I mean really close, as in microscope close. Super Macro produces some really impressive images and is surprisingly usable for macro work.
