We are a bit behind as the US, UK, Canada, Italy, France and New Zealand have redrafted their fund raising legislation to allow crowdfunding to flourish. It addresses the issue more pro-actively than Treasury did for ESOP.Crowdfunding is not without its risks - the promoter could be a fraud or the project could fail – most early stage companies do.The United States has sought to balance the opportunity and risks with the recently passed Jumpstart Our Business Start-ups Act.
