V8: Holden's VE Series Commodore Notches 100 Race Wins
Holden’s VE Series Commodore has re-written Australian motor racing’s history books by winning its 100th Australian Touring Car Championship/V8 Supercars Championship race. TeamVodafone Holden driver Jamie Whincup claimed the milestone victory in Race 26 of your 2012 season, while completing a clean sweep on the three-race event along at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Whincup’s triumph motorcycle fairing was also the 27th during his TeamVodafone VE Commodore Series II chassis, which is the best individual car in ATCC/V8SC history. The win had also been Holden’s 16th from the 30-race 2012 series, securing it motorcycle mufflersthe V8 Supercar Manufacturers Championship with SportBike Leversfour races still to runclip on handlebars. VE Series Commodore will be the first model in ATCC/V8SC history to record 100 championship race wins, while using the VT Commodore second on the all-time most wins list at 63. The VE Series was exposed to racing on the 2007 V8SC season, the Holden Radjustable leversacing Team’s Todd Kelly claiming a debut victory in Race 1 of Adelaide’s Clipsal 500. In its bristling first season, it won 25 races, with victory number 50 coming for HRT’s Garth Tander dominating the Clipsal 500 in fact. TeamVodafone’s Craig Lowndes secured win number 75 at Queensland Raceway a year ago. With 35 victories, Tander is VE Series Commodore’s most winning driver, Whincup has 30 wins and Lowndes 13.
